Here's how to ride:
New 2023 location: Park and check in at 601 N Main St, Bluffton Community (at the corner of Main and Snider Rd., formerly The Centre).
At check-in, riders will receive maps for 4 route options, the 11 mile Fun Loop, the 24-mile Rawson Loop, the 37 mile Ada Loop and the 63 mile Main Loop. (This loop also has cut-offs for 23, 48 and 58 miles.) Riders planning to ride more than one route must start with the longest route first.
The ride opens at 6:30 a.m., with the last start at 9 a.m. There will be a Mass Start will be at 8 a.m., with a Group Start for riders doing the 100 or more rides at 7 a.m. Of course, riders can choose to start whenever they are ready. Routes close at 4 p.m.
This year we're introducing the Ramseyer Challenge. Ride the 63-37-24 loops to complete a Double Metric (200 km / 124 miles). If participating in this challenge, plan to begin your ride with the 7 a.m. group start.
Routes are on scenic, flat, and well-paved roads. Roads are painted at intersections indicate the route direction. Rest stops with water and snacks are spaced from 16 to 20 miles apart with a final stop at the finish.
Additional perks for registered riders at this year’s event include:
1) Free $8 coupon good at most downtown restaurants and the Greenhorn food truck at the BFR at the beginning of the ride
2) Free access to the Bluffton Community swimming pool for registered riders
3) Free showers at BFR until 4 p.m.
For those wanting to ride these routes virtually due to health concerns or scheduling conflicts, maps will be available upon registering and all routes painted by early July.
Riders are encouraged to take photos and use the hashtag #BRTR2023 on social media during or at the end of the ride.
